Worship, kept pure

We believe worship should be sincere to Allah, far from commercial exploitation. Al Ahd is built to be a purely spiritual tool: completely free, with no ads, no tracking tools used for advertising, and your information is never shared with anyone for commercial purposes. Our only goal is to make the noble text easy to reach and to help you keep it, with no commercial or political agenda.

The short version

Who we are

Al Ahd is a free devotional app that helps you keep a daily Dua al-Ahd practice. In this policy, "we" and "the app" refer to the Al Ahd project. You can reach us at salam@alahd.app.

What we collect, and why

A random device identifier

When you first open the app, it creates a random device identifier on your phone and a matching profile on our server. This lets the app remember your progress without asking for your name or email. The identifier is a random string. It is not linked to your real identity, your contacts, or your phone's hardware IDs.

Your email address, only if you choose to save your progress

If you want to keep your progress when you change phones, you can give an email address. We send a one-time sign-in link to that address (there are no passwords). We store the email so we can recognise you on a new device. You can keep using the app forever without ever doing this.

Your recitation activity

When you mark a morning as recited, we record the date, the time, and which morning window it fell in (based on your city's prayer times). This is what powers your running count of 40 consecutive mornings and your lifetime record. It is tied to your profile, not shared with anyone.

Your location, for prayer times

Prayer times depend on where you are. You can let the app detect your location automatically, turn on precise location from your phone's GPS (it asks permission first), or set your place by hand. To show a readable place name, the app may send your coordinates to a third-party geocoding service. Your location is saved to your profile so your morning window and progress stay correct across devices. You can change or clear it anytime in Settings.

Your settings and preferences

Your language, prayer-time and Hijri-date adjustments, text size, reciter, and reminder choice. These live only on your device.

Stored on your device only

The app keeps a local copy of the dua text and audio, recent prayer times, your pending and recent recitations, and your settings, so it works offline. This data stays on your phone. It is removed when you sign out, reset the app, or uninstall it.

What we do not collect

Where your data is stored

Your profile and recitation history are stored on cloud infrastructure in the European Union. A few providers help us run the app, such as database hosting and an email service for the one-time sign-in links. They process your data only to run the app for us, under contract, and we never sell it. Some of this may be processed outside the EU, with appropriate safeguards.

How long we keep it

Your choices and rights

Children

The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us their email, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Sign-in tokens are stored only as a hashed value on our side, never in plain text. Your sign-in token on your phone is kept in the device's secure storage.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be noted in the app.
